On your mark, get set…go! There’s some serious ‘small batch’ happening in Paris and if you want to get your hands on this little bottle, you’ll want to get in on it early.
In celebration of the upcoming Paris Cocktail Week, the PCW crew teamed up with Nicolas Julhès of Distillerie de Paris to create a limited edition “Handcrafted Negroni.” So, while the official week doesn’t kick off until 21 January (more info on that coming soon…), you can prefunk with this little bottle beforehand.
Surprisingly, this Handcrafted Negroni doesn’t include gin, Campari or vermouth. Rather, it’s a serious collaboration between barman and distiller and has been created with a variety of ingredients like citrus and rhubarb to create a Negroni-like drink impossible to recreate at home (Unless you happen to have a still. And the time. And the inclination. And the experience.) You get the picture.
Visually, it’s a little lighter than you might expect from a standard negroni. Taste-wise, as well. It’s also been developed with the home consumer in mind. That means it can be served over your standard ice and still taste good. (Nope, they don’t expect you to have a professional-level ice-making machine chez vous!)
And for you Cocktail Lovers who just love to get the ungettable? There are only 300 bottles available. They go on sale as of 15 December via the Distillerie de Paris. Price is 35 Euros a bottle, but if you sign up for Paris Cocktail Week 2017 and show your confirmation, you get for the nicer price of 28 Euros a bottle.
That makes for a nice little present to you or for someone else…if they’re lucky.
