Welcome to the weekly guide on where to drink in Paris! Every Wednesday, I spotlight three bars including an old favorite worth revisiting, something new (bars, menus, etc.) and something ephemeral (guest shifts, special events).
Here’s where to drink in Paris this week:
Revisit an Old Favorite: Harry’s New York Bar
Established in 1911, Harry’s Bar has become a well known Paris institution, serving Bloody Mary’s and old school vibes. Following some recent revamping of its cocktail list, it’s worth revisiting to check out the changes. And not only that, it’s celebrating 100 years of its unique “straw poll,” American passport holders can cast their votes for a period of time in a mock U.S. election—a tradition since 1924 that has proven uncannily accurate, missing the actual results only three times.
Try Something New: Bluebird Bar’s New Autumn Menu
Bluebird Bar brings a mid-century modern flair to the city’s cocktail scene. Known for its sleek, retro ambiance and an impressively curated booze selection, Bluebird has launched a new cocktail menu for Autumn. As usual, the new creations are made with an eye to wasting nothing, keeping it seasonal, and the play between the chef and the bartender. Even without a new menu, it’s worth stopping in here, but now you’ve got even more of excuse!
Catch Something Ephemeral: Casetta Hotel Bar’s Special Halloween Cocktail
For something a bit outside the typical Paris boundary, head just across the ring road to the 5 Particulier hotel. The bar of their restaurant, Cassetta, has created a special Halloween cocktail. Made with pumpkin, apple, and seasonal spices, this festive drink is served with a whimsical cobweb garnish. If the weather permits, enjoy your cocktail on their beautiful garden terrace for a relaxing escape just beyond the city. It makes for a nice break from the usual and this seasonal cocktail is only available for a short time.
