REFLET D’AILLEURS Pop Up Dinner at Treize Bakery

€46Treize Bakery hosts a pop up dinner with guest chefs including their friend Kristen, a South African born and San Francisco bred chef who is in Paris for a short time.

Born and raised South African, Kirsten was uprooted and moved to France at a young age, where she quickly adhered to the very foreign, very French way of life. As an adult and a chef, the spices of home, the warmth and welcome of the South African have never left her, and it is reflected in the food she creates.
Her incessant desire to travel has contributed to an accumulated plethora of tastes and textures. Navigating through South East Asia, the Caribbean and Central America, Kirsten finally came to rest in San Fransisco, where she found a fondness in the Californian way of life, working amongst talented chefs such as Dominique Crenn and Jonathan Black.
Upon her recent return to Paris, a discovery was made – Treize au Jardin, a Salon de The, which owners Laurel and Kaysa proudly call home. It is a space where the world filters out, life slows down, flowers flow over the worn wooden tables, positive affirmations plaster the wall, and the warmth of Treize envelops you.
It was decided in an instant that this was the perfect place for Kirsten and long time friend and chef, Maxime Bertrand to hold their first collaborative pop up!
So we suggest you pull off your thick winter coats, raise a glass to diversity, warmth and excellent food, at the foot of the Luxembourg Gardens, for two nights only.
Menu:
Traditional samosa stuffed with cauliflower, nuts and pickled raisins, finished with a light winter citrus sauce.
Warm spaghetti squash salad, Cape Malay pickled mussels, butternut purée, roasted hazelnuts and smoked trout eggs.
Grilled Atlantic scallops on a bed of wild mushrooms, chestnuts and beef marrow, finished with a frothy roasted sun-choke milk and winter purslane.
A second service of scallop and rooibos consommée
Confit lamb shoulder cooked in Durban curry spices, carrot and cumin purée, young salsifies and grilled baby onions, served with raita and naan bread.
A not so traditional milk tart, pears poached in a black cardamon and bergamote sugar sirop, topped with Iranian black lemon zest.
When? Saturday 1st December and Monday 3rd December. Aperitif starts at 19h.
