What do you get when you mix Monkey Shoulder with the fantasy film board game Jumanji? Paris’ latest PopUp, Jumonki. Jumonki is the brainchild of Bordeaux based barman Thibault Gaufryau.
As the winner of their Monkey Shoulder Bartender Championship with this jungle themed cocktail concept, he got to realize his fantasy bar, which will remain open for a fleeting 2 weeks until 26 November.
Jumonki is not just full of fun décor like carnivorous plants and stuffed tigers, but also more interactive fun with games and puzzles projected on the screens hourly. Additionally, they’re offering up from cocktail classes for which you can sign up directly at the bar.
Gaufryau also got creative with the cocktail menu, which six nicely priced whiskey based cocktails at a nice price of 10 Euros each (12 Euros for their namesake cocktail). Each cocktail contains something a little out of the ordinary from absinthe to java pepper. Within the small selection, drinkers of different levels should be able to find something to suit their tastes from the sweet and crème Milk Monkey Shake to the strong and nutty Hunter Shoulder (Monkey Shoulder mixed with their own vermouth Malt Jockey and walnut bitters).
Thibault is usually shaking and stirring at Rockwood in Bordeaux where he has gained a reputation as a warm and friendly barman – and he promises us he’ll be bringing that superior service to Paris. His goal is to make sure that everyone that comes into his bar has a better day as a result.
In short: a cool collaboration between brand and barman that’s worth a visit.
