An evening about food: Kristen Beddard, Emily Dilling and Jessie Kanelos Weiner will speak about local produce and how Paris is changing when it comes to eating locally and in season. The discussion will be moderated by food writer Alexander Lobrano.
About the speakers
Kristen Beddard is the American founder of The Kale Project, a successful initiative to reintroduce kale to France. Through her work with local French farmers, le chou kale can now be found at various outdoor markets and supermarkets. She is the author of the French gardening and cookbook Savez-vous manger les choux and a contributing author to We Love Kale: Fresh and Healthy Inspiring Recipes. Her most recent book is Bonjour Kale: A Memoir of Paris, Love and Recipes.
Emily Dilling is the author of My Paris Market Cookbook: A Culinary Tour of French Flavors and Seasonal Recipes (Skyhorse, 2015) and the founder of the site Paris Paysanne and host of the Paris Paysanne Podcast. Originally from California, Emily has called France home for the past eleven years. After ten years in Paris, Emily now lives in the Loir-et-Cher region of France, where she continues to write, as well as forage, taste wine and make her own beer!
Illustrator, cookbook author, and food stylist, Jessie Kanelos Weiner is best known for her vibrant watercolor illustrations and fine line drawings. Her international clients include: Nespresso, Google, and Hachette Book Group. Her work has appeared in international style publications: Alla Carta magazine, Cherry Bombe, and M Le Magazine du Monde. She writes a popular blog about her life and work called thefrancofly.com. Her latest book is Edible Paradise: A Coloring Book of Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables.
