A market and food tour focusing on Women’s roles in creating Paris past and present with your guides Women of Paris and Paris Paysanne.

More information from Facebook event below:

On the 5th October 1789 thousands of angry market women from the faubourg Saint Antoine armed with pikes, bread knives and a few canons stormed the royal palace of Versailles. Their mission? Getting their hands on some much needed bread and the arrest of the royal family! This was to be one of the earliest victories of a ten year long struggle for liberty, equality and a new France 🇫🇷

To celebrate the release of the updated version of Emily’s, (Paris Paysanne) book: My Paris Market Cookbook, we’re running an extra special collaborative tour all about the market women of Paris, past and present!

Come join us at the marché d’Aligre in the faubourg Saint Antoine, one of Paris’ oldest food markets to meet with some independent female producers who boss the market today and try their delicious food and wine. Emily will guide us through the market and around the area, introducing us to some of her favourite haunts and the women who run them. Along the way we’ll also learn about the women’s march to Versailles and the important role women played in the French Revolution, commemorating their contribution to history by learning their stories and eating pâtisserie! 🥐

We’ll finish up in a cosy, local wine bar where Emily will be signing copies of her new book. Order your copy here https://www.amazon.fr/My-Paris-Market-Cookbook-Culinary/dp/1510742964/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1554818770&sr=8-1-fkmrnull.
